Steve Cawte
Steven Robert Cawte (born November 8, 1982) is a Lincolnshire poet, actor, producer, director and educator. He is married to Nikki Cawte and father of two children Charlie and Imogen. He has won three Awards (Our Times New Writer of the Year, the 'Voice it' performers prize & The Green Room spoken word award) he has also produced 8 plays with his Theatre Company Upstage Left. Some of Cawte's acting roles include Oedipus in Oedipus Rex, Macbeth in Macbeth, The Narrator in Blood Brothers, Calcedonio De Pisa in Cosa Nostra and more recently a voice over as the male character in the animated short by Joel Stickley, THE DATE. He is a well seasoned performance poet who has performed at venues across the globe. He is also a passionate Educator, spending time working in schools and with students helping to inspire and develop the next generation of performers and writers.
His Directing work ranges from shakespeare to comedy and everything in between.
He is the host for the Lincolnshire Dances Festival and the Lyric Lounge Lincoln, he hosts the monthly Jolly Brewer open mic night and the 'mouth it' open mic nights at LPAC in Lincoln. He has helped to establish the local writers groups 'The Writers Collective' 'Lincolnshire Poetry' and is a member of the newly formed Lincoln Live Poets Society.He was the writer in residence at Cherry Willingham School working through First Story on a youth publication for two years. Now working with Lincoln Castle Academy on the same First Story project.
He has performed his poetry regularly on Siren FM (Lincolnshires first community radio station) and has performed live on BBC Radio.
Passionate about improving lives and his local community his latest project with Steve Watson is producing a charity album www.haveyouheardalbum.weebly.com to raise money in support of St.Barnabas Hospice.
Steve was also on the board of Lincoln arts festival Lincoln Inspired, aiding Sara Bullimore in its creation.
Steve has recently begun working with both North Kesteven School and The Terry O'Toole Theatre, working to create an engaging and cross curricular arts provision.

- He will continue to be a part of the Lincoln Creative Writers group and looks forward to celebrating its 10th birthday in June. (3rd Sunday of the month at the Victoria Pub 2-5pm)
- Steve is also opening the 'Upstaged school of acting' at Terry O'Toole Theatre in March 2017.
- The summer will see the next installment of the NIDUS-UK project with a performance of 'The Canterbury Tales' with new tales being written again by Peter Tyrer
- Last years NIDUS-UK project directed by Steve 'The Death of King John' has continued to steamroll and is heading for London, with the current destination looking highly liekly to be the 'Royal Court Theatre'
- Steve will continue to be the host at the monthly Jolly Brewer open mic spoken word night (last thursday of every month 7:30-11pm)
- He will be continuing to work with North Kesteven School until at least April 2017 working with their drama department delivering A-level, B-TEC and GCSE drama courses.
- Steve intends on reforming the Lincoln Shakespeare Company and working in partnership with The New Theatre Royal hopes to return quality local amateur Shakespeare performances to the Lincoln Stage.
- Steves involvement in First Story projects will see the 3rd collabrative anthology published and launched by July 2017, this year he is again working with Lincoln Castle Academy school.
